I always route for the different rig.

Matt Thorsen ran the LCQ yesterday in the rig he ran at TTC 2012.

Not sure if he placed yet or not but he had a good run and finished.

Cool to see someone rock  54's . If you've ever been there you know unless your wool is white you draw a ton of negative attention. Which is funny coming from an industry that used to pride itself on uniqueness.

It's doable with a big rig. Everybody tells you your out of place and are going to fail. So it gets in your head. And you drive slow and cautious or like shit in general. I hope Matt hangs in there and drives. It's easier on a big rig. Look at Havoc. How many ultra 4 type rigs finished the iron man.

How did JOEy and Brink do?

Does anyone know what put him out? It still was a respectable first lap time. If he called it quits when arriving in the pit then he's within 30 minutes of the leader.

Brink barrel rolled 2.5x catching a bad bump while getting sideways doing a little last minute shock tuning the day before the race. We worked until 4am with Eric Kam and Mike Flake doing the welding to get his front shock hoops fixed up and had it in the starting lineup for 6am.

Joey was riding co-dawg with Matt and their water pump let go (for the 3rd time that week) and they helped a few other teams, lending out a battery and other parts until the decided to limp it home later in the evening.

Thorson lost the tranny, it's cool to see a big rig compete but when guys are hitting 130+ mph in the desert sections it's easy to see why they seem outta place.

Comparing Havoc to KOH is apples to oranges, both rigs can do both events but do their own much better.

I am sure the story is the same for every KOH team hah .. but man things were going SO well until they went SO bad!

I had a great time down there this year, co-driving, wrenching, wheeling, hanging out ... good to finally meet you too Whalstrom!

Once along time ago, in a subduction zone not to far away, great thrust faults and up-lift occurred, that my friend blows me away..... In this great land, we all treasure the same, I see no reason to only have mud trails, thats just lame. Thus today I made a vow I promise to uphold, I will find a rock trail in Alberta by hunting through the heat, rain and even the cold. So to all those Igneous and sedimentary rocks around, look out, the day is coming when you will be found.

Oh definitly it's comparing apples to oranges. however run properly the Havoc rigs could hold their own. Don't run them fast in the desert but faster over the rocky terrain. We're going to prove it this coming year.

I talked to some of the guys there. I'm curious how much worse off Brinks damage would have been if he was running lower end rod ends? The roll looked wheel to wheel. Obviously it was hitting hard on the axles to rip both shock towers off. Could you in maginge the damage if a rod end had of let go?

Joey were you the one that was going to lend Lance a battery?

He wasn't doing bad and a tranny failure is pretty common there. I can't believe the 54's held up.

That wasn't us Clay ... I think Lance was in the EMC race on Thursday and I was co-driving for Matt Nieman (did he message Erin about getting a NecksGen?) #4487 on Friday's main event.

I am SURE that everyone has the same story from KOH but things were going really well for us until they went really bad! .. Qualifying wasn't a big focus for us, so we spent most of our days before the race either pre-running the main course, or just hanging out, catching up with old friends etc.

Having not pre-run the qualifying course I think we ended up 108th or something off the starting line .. Did some really solid work in the first lap probably passing some 20-30 other rigs. It's crazy actually how many people go FULL retard at KOH. One guy rolled off the starting line right in front of Brink, we saw another guy on his roof in a ravine at Mile Marker 1 .. Mile 5 or 6 we start to see rigs pulled off to the side in the whoops looking for lost parts or sitting there with their hoods up. To me, if a guy can keep his cool but still maintain pace he will have a good shot at things.

We ended up having a waterpump failure halfway through lap 2 (blew the big "frost plug" right out the back) .. LS3, truck water pump, rear mounted radiator, any ideas???? .. We were ahead of the "Jackhammer" traffic at that point so it was a major bummer to be broken down. We jogged up to remote pit 2, got a new pump and 3 gallons of water, fixed up the buggy (along with a flat tire/broke wheel) but couldnt get the damn thing out of limp mode. As a result, we just started helping those others around us.

One team from new Jersey or something (Liquid Iron Industries) needed some fuel, Greg Adler of 4 wheel parts had lapped us and was sitting in 4th or 5th however he had just rolled and needed some help getting a few issues sorted. We helped him pull plugs, flush the cylinders, give him a spare battery to try and troubleshoot an issue or two etc .. At that time, cars 5-10 came through and we helped spot them through a tough spot.

I've got to say, that UFO car build by JR is beautiful .. but the driver is a fucking idiot hah!
