have been thinking about changing the suspension on my truck come spirng time as was looking at the knight stalker stage 2s.  the only thing is i cant find a hole lot of info on them and i know a few people on here seem to be running them.  i like the fact that they are huge and beefy and will handle the waight of my rig no problem.  so looking for info as up and down sides to running them instead of a set of coil overs.  i know that body roll is a big issue with them so i will have to run a sway bar but im fine with that.

any input would be great, thanks

well the other person on here that has used them is is sgleshot. I know he's started to make his own version.I know it's always touching talking about other peoples products on here but I don't really care. If it's a better product it should be talked about. We make one thats similar but different, however it's still being developed. The knightstalker is an awsome, awsome shock. It takes a bit to tune it (filling it, valving ,figuring out nitrogen pressures) but once you dial it in it's a very versitle shock. Very smooth. Since you know they need a sway bar you know the biggest down fall. Ah the other thing would be to pull them apart if you get them cut the stud off the end of the shock rod ,bore out and tap the end of the rod and put a nut there. I upsized mine. It comes in handy when you blow a limit strap while flying through the air and have a harsh landing.

thanks for the info, the only down sides i have heard about was that you have to run a sway bar because of body roll.  also heard that unlike a coil over they do not have a memorie so when you hit something they will stay there till you hit something else, is this so?  i really like the beef on them so that is why i was looking at them, the fact that a monster truck can jump over a stack of school buses and the shocks take it is something i like.

also do you have any more info on the shocks that your are making as Knight Stalker does not want to email me back on more info and prices.  i have been super happy with my heim joints from you so can only imagin the quality of your shocks.

thanks

well they go to where ever you set them with the nitrogen . If the weight breaks over the pivot point of the suspension it will hold the shock there. The shocks on the light side will push adding to the weight on the collasped side. If you run them low you don't have as much of a problem.  A soft coil over will do the same. It just takes getting used to . The other thing you'll see is a truck pitch and stay when a sway bar is bent.  Funny thing the reason I started making my shocks is because I couldn't get a hold of nightstalker  ever. Or Dan Patrick who also sells them . Pablo makes them . As far as mine go I won't have time until late spring early summer to even think about making more.

getting ahold of stalker is the major down fall of using their stuff, got a better chance of finding christ re-incarnated.  The shocks I ran last season were just a standard stage II, their good shocks, If i were to be using his stuff permanently i would sent the bodies back and get bypasses put on them. which would ease the issue of valving, just valve it a bit stout then use the bypasses to dial it in. I know the quality of their internal porting where the accumulator fits leaves something to be desired, the ones we have were pretty rough and are hard on glide rings and orings.

We've also played with a bunch of Race Source shocks (pablo). Their older stuff is kinda about on the same level as stalker. Recently one of our local buddies that runs monsters got a set of his new caps and bodies in with bypasses gigged up on them, the quality of them was very good. The only thing that i would like to see different with them is what we have employed on our new shocks that we're in the stages of testing, we've eliminated all the things that are we have viewed as a negative aspect from both designs and come up with our own to solution to them. But as i say, we're still in testing stages, we hope if everything goes well we can start producing them by next fall.

Yes you will need a sway bar with them, a pretty heft one if you have a heavy rig.  A huge deal with that style shock is making sure that all the air is out of the shock before using them, this can take time, but it will greatly effect the performance. Something we've found that helps with that is assemble the shock with fluid and the shaft all the way in when you are setting the floater piston depth, and whatever you do, neverpull the shaft out without having the gas side of the accumulator pressurized with nitrogen, if you do it will acutually pull air by the o-rings on the floater and you'll play hell bleeding air out. Where the floater piston is located un-pressurized with the shaft all the way in plays a huge roll in how the shock performs as well.

Bumping this thread....

Agreed, It was very hard to get a hold of him - spent about 2-3 weeks until we finally spoke and got the total amount for the shocks for Cliff.  Sent him the money via Bank Draft last month and now no phones work and website is no longer there.

If anyone hears anything if Knight Stalker is still around or not let me know.  I think Cliff would either like the shocks or his money back.

Thanks.

ill check with some of my monster truck buddies and see if anyone knows anything. I dont know if its a coincidence or not but everyone seems to be running alot of race source stuff now as far as these style shocks go.
