Dan Rodoni is the original owner of the Patriot Monster truck.  He bought the old Bulldozer chassis and started building/improving.  He eventually had a new chassis built into what is today's Patriot and Tropical/Camo Thunder got the Bulldozer Chassis.

I am not sure what the hubs are.  I keep forgetting to ask(To busy when there to remember) I know he just bought and old military forklift just so he could have some spares. I'll find out.

The groover is way nicer than the old one he's got. It heats up faster and stays hot.

That is correct, it spins the planet, but Kevin seems to think that it failed because there was not enough weld on it to retain the splines.

I hear you....... It is always non stop, and a mess.  The drivers seem to have a bigger right foot as the season progresses.  That ='s  Broken parts.
Here is a quick list of parts/ damage that I can think of(Just the Patriot)
3-4 Spindles
3 knuckles
4 axle shafts
1 bent rim
1 tranny
1 Flywheel
water pump
fuel pump
Crankshaft and other engine related parts
Blower seals
Cage repair
and the truck has been rolled at least 4 times?

I am sure there was lot's more too. I couldn't make it ever week.

Well it wasn't the best or worst season.  I like to call it a learning curve.
The trucks are heading out for their final race/freestyle of the Monster Jam year.
We only have exhibition shows left but they don't start until May.

Now I have to wait until the end of March until I see another race/freestyle.  NGK Monster Jam World Finals 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In Vegas!

Just learned a trick to grooving with a hot gun.
Soak the area you want to cut with a few applications of Armor-All and it will cut way smoother!!

Needless to say I spent a few hours grooving today.

I just found out that the two Monsters that I work on are going to the World Finals this year!  Unfortunately they are not going to compete, just to display the trucks.

Normally I wouldn't touch the trucks for another few months but since the trucks are heading to Vegas in a few weeks. Back to work..
So Kevin(lead mechanic) thought that Camo's motor sounded odd so he pulled the valve cover and found a roller rocker missing it roller tip. Upon further inspection/disassembly, lifter was shot, and it lead to a flattened lobe on the camshaft.
Time to pull the motor..
