I go through steering pumps like shit though a goose. why? They are stock pumps not hot rodded. I run 2. Each with it's own check valve. One will go then later the other. Always broken shafts. Is it  cavitation ?

yeah you'll need to go to a bigger orbital and probably a higher volume pump. Steering pumps really aren't ment to work with orbitals since they aren't positive displacement.  a 3" ram is a lot of oil to move. What size are your lines?

Dean the only thing that's kept me from running a full on pump was the belts you used to throw. I've been gearing up to mount one to my crank.

So here is what I've found. There's a restricted return line into the tank. And the sucktion line was repaired at some point with a smaller line in a 4 inch area. So all I can think is it's starving the pumps for oil. It would make sense the first pump goes right away then the second one goes normally upside down or hard on the throttle. Time to remedy.

Double check your fittings ID as well, I've used a couple different brands when putting something together and found that ID can vary quite a bit.... I've drilled out quite a few so they match the hose ID.
